HCAA Expands Access to Certified Self Funding Specialist® Designation Through WebCE

Organizations can add CSFS® to their WebCE Learning Centers, providing professionals with specialized self-funding education and continuing education opportunities

ST. LOUIS – September 21, 2026 – The Health Care Administrators Association (HCAA), the nation’s leading nonprofit membership trade association supporting the self-funded health benefits industry, is offering its Certified Self Funding Specialist® (CSFS®) designation through WebCE, providing insurance and benefits professionals with a convenient way to expand their knowledge of self-funded healthcare while earning continuing education credits.

Designed for professionals who work in or alongside the self-funded health benefits industry, the CSFS program provides a comprehensive education on the self-funded benefit model through seven online modules. Each module qualifies for life and health insurance Continuing Education credits, with successful completion of all seven courses culminating in the CSFS designation.

“As self-funding continues to evolve, professionals throughout the benefits industry need to not only understand how the self-funding model works but must also understand the many organizations and disciplines that together make it successful,” said Carol Berry, CSFS, Chief Executive Officer of HCAA. “CSFS was created to provide that foundation while also helping experienced professionals deepen their expertise and stay current on the issues shaping our industry.”

The CSFS curriculum is continuously updated to address current legal and regulatory challenges affecting self-funded healthcare. Organizations using WebCE Learning Centers can also add the CSFS designation to their existing education offerings, providing employees, members or other learners with direct access to specialized self-funding education through a platform they already use.

The program is designed to benefit professionals across the self-funded healthcare ecosystem, including third-party administrators, brokers and benefits consultants, stop-loss professionals, managing general underwriters, medical management organizations, technology companies, pharmacy benefit managers, human resource professionals, plan sponsors and others supporting self-funded health plans.

Individual CSFS courses are also available for professionals interested in targeted education without pursuing the full designation after completing the introductory course.
