Effective July 1, 2025, under Senate File 619, state licensure is now required for the following roles:

• Appraiser (Individual)

• Appraiser (Business Entity)

• Umpire (Individual)

To legally operate in these roles, Iowa now requires a state-issued insurance license. Anyone acting as an insurance adjuster, appraiser, or umpire without a license commits a Class D felony and is punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine ranging between $750 and $7,500.
